If you have ever traveled down East Broadway into downtown Louisville you will undoubtable remember the iconic Florist and local designer Don Pinotti with Broadway Florist Inc. This past summer, after over 95 years and 4 family generations Broadway Florist Inc closed it’s doors for that last time and Old Louisville bid a fond farewell to one of the longest standing louisville floral favorites. Broadway Florist Inc was one of a kind, keeping Louisville weird well before it was a trendy. Established around 1920, Broadway Florist Inc embraced and embodied the tough Louisville Kentucky entrepreneurial spirit, surviving both the great depression and the flood of 1937 when waters rose high enough to creep past Broadway all the way to Churchill Downs. For almost a century the Pinotti’s served all of downtown Louisville providing floral services to the hospital complex, Norton, Jewish, University and Kosair hospital and the ever expanding kaleidoscope of urban Louisville business offices and organizations like the long established Galt House to the relatively new Humana.
As a friend and fellow florist we at Boston’s Floral Couture would like to extend a fond farewell and all of our respect in the field to the Pinotti’s for their service to the city, Broadway simple wont be the same without you.
